Things I'm Digging This Week

Here are some things that I'm diggin this week:

My new sassy red hair!
I went red last October, and decided to take the plunge again. It came out a little darker/more red than I was hoping but next time I'll have a better idea of how to explain to my stylist the color I'm looking for (a little more orange-y a little less red).

Our new nerd corner!
For a long time I resisted letting our nerdy personalities spill over into our home decor. After deciding to let my freak flag fly (it was quite liberating, actually) and getting my husband two *awesome* Star Wars canvas prints as an early Father's Day presents, we needed a place to put our nerdrabilia. I didn't want my ENTIRE house overrun (I have some other decorating ideas I'd like to pursue whenever we have the money *so.....never?*). Anywho, we decided to make the corner of our dining room where we have our two bookcases be our nerd space. We hung our Star Wars prints and some of my Alice in Wonderland stuff (I collect Alice stuff fyi). We put all of our tabletop games on top of the bookshelf and voila!

Epic Spell Wars of the Battle Wizards: Rumble at Castle Tentakill
We loved the first Epic Spell Wars SO much (thanks again, Wil Wheaton!) that we had to get the second installment. There are some changes in gameplay in Rumble at Castle Tentakill, mostly with the addition of creatures, using the standee in gameplay, and the collection of "blood" to use throughout the rounds to power up spells. It was very fun, but to be honest I think I prefer the first game better. It's still a great game though.

Dead Ice by Laurell K. Hamilton
I heard of the Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter series by Laurell K. Hamilton when I was in high school right around the time Incubus Dreams came out (2004). I saw an ad for the book and asked my boyfriend (now my husband) about the series since he worked at our local bookstore. He picked up a copy of the first book in the series, Guilty Pleasures, and I've been hooked ever since. I really enjoyed Dead Ice because it reminded me of the earlier novels in the series, which I prefer. There is a lot of sex in the later half of the series and after a while if there's just a lot of sex and not a lot of plot things get.....tedious. However, Dead Ice has everything in proportion and has a great plotline.

Our Gray Family Summer Bucket List
Last summer we decided to start doing a summer bucket list (thank you, Pinterest!). We had so much fun with it last summer we decided to do an Autumn bucket list as well. We've got some new things to do, as well as some summer staple activities. I know we're going to have a blast checking off all of our family fun activities!
