When You Have Guests, Reign In the Crazy

Well, as you can see by my writing this post, I survived my sons first birthday party. "Its just a kids party, how bad could it be?" you may ask.'s me, so it's at least 2x as hard as it would be for the average person. Any gathering that I have to host, be it a birthday party or a family reunion, will ultimately result in lots and lots of stress for me. I feel like I have a million things to do and about 15 minutes to do them in. No matter how far in advance I have things planned, I usually freak out at the last minute, even if things are going well. For example, whenever family visits I like to have my house clean. I keep it clean on a day to day basis, but when family visits I like to try to have things looking extra clean and organized. When my house isn't as clean and tidy as I need it to be I feel stressed and overwhelmed which ends up stealing away some of the joy of the visit. This past weekend we had family visiting AND a party so I was in rare form. Thankfully my husband was able to help me reign in my crazy, and I think everyone had a good time.

The party its self was cute. We did a "little gentleman/mustache" theme, and we had a "photo booth" area with props for guests to take pictures in. A great time was had by all. Even though I was freaking out for part of the time, I enjoyed myself too. My little man turned one, and I got to celebrate it with great family and friends. I want to thank everyone who helped to make the day special, whether they were physically present or not.

Immediately following Owen's party Nathan and I both got sick. Of course! Now that we both *seem* to be over our tummy virus it's time to put our house back together. Until next time.
